My Africa

It's still very rough, and I wrote down exactly how I felt. It's still hard for me to understand my craving for Africa or even begin to explain it. This is the closest I've gotten.
Africa: a continent divided. collection of countries in turmoil.
swarming with suspicion, speculation.
riden with fear and suffering.
Yet thriving in culture
and strong - Courageous
Africa: a homeland. haven. battle ground.
unknown, unsought, undisturbed.
wartorn plain, waving grasslands
trapt beneath baking suns and sorrowful showers.
Yet still standing
and strong - unstoppable
Africa: my mind, my heart, my soul
untold, unfounded, unfair, undersold.
struggling, seeking, desperate.
they chant, they call, they cry.
they sing, they speak, they're silent.
Yet never unheard
and always strong - immortal
